Dear Agung,
When most people think of work flexibility, they usually think of it as being a "want" -- a warm, fuzzy benefit than can lead to a better work-life balance that for those of us that dream of such things. But work flexibility has just as much to do with difficult life situations and challenges than it does work-life balance attainment. The things we don't want to deal with, but need to - such as health problems, dangerous weather situations, or critical family issues. The inevitable, challenging, inconvenient life situations that we ALL find ourselves in from time to time.
So why do you want work flexibility? This week I wrote a post for LinkedIn, 20 Unexpected Reasons Work Flexibility Is a "Need," Not a "Want". Please check it out, and I'd love to hear some of the reasons you have wanted or needed work flexibility for your career!
Also, I'd personally like to invite you to listen in to a radio show tonight at 8pm EST called Work and Life, on which I'm honored be a featured guest! It's available on SiriusXM channel 111 and is hosted by Stew Friedman, a nationally-recognized expert in work/life integration and the founding director of both the Work/Life Integration Project and the Leadership Program at University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School. With information and advice for everyone from executives, to entrepreneurs, to stay-at-home career-changers, and everyone in-between on all things at the intersection of work and the rest of life -- I hope you can tune in!
