Nowadays, most job-seekers at some point feel that their resume disappears into a black hole after they've applied for a job... and they're not imaging things. In fact, a study last year showed that only 1 in 10 employers say that they respond to every candidate, and 1 in 3 companies actually said that they don't respond to unqualified candidates as their standard practice. Ouch. |  | | Having said that, it's important to keep in mind that it's not because employers intentionally want to frustrate job-seekers. In general, the hiring process has become increasingly difficult for them, too, with huge increases in applications for a single job which means more resumes to review. Yet, at the same time, budgets have often been cut, so there are less people to do the work. Therein lies a big problem. | | | | This isn't to say it is okay (it's not!), but it is a reality.
