Hi Agung, Over the years, I have sold tens of millions of dollars worth of information products… …These include niches like dog training, personal development, health, relationships, language learning, musical instrument learning, software, how to draw manga, and many other niches. So I have a lot of experience to draw on, I've run thousands of split tests and have seen firsthand what converts and what doesn't. I've also promoted products as an affiliate, sold physical products on amazon and via Shopify, etc. And today I want to share with you a tip that can boost your sales by 20% and sometimes even as much as 40%… …It's a method for writing headlines that gets more readers. The headline itself doesn't exactly cause the sales… …BUT… If it gets 20% more of the RIGHT PEOPLE to read your entire sales copy, then you will likely make 20% more sales. When I've helped other people with their copy, sometimes their headline is so poor that a vastly improved headline boosts readership by 40%, and as a result, leads to a 40% sales bump. Today I'll be sharing with you a strategy for writing headlines for information products. You may need to adjust this strategy if you're wanting to use it for physical products, or for ads and so forth in order to keep things compliant and relevant. But the overall principles behind what I share here are the main thing to keep in mind, not the precise wording. *** So here it is, here is my HSS method for writing headlines *** Note: This is not my only method for writing headlines, it is one of the good ones from my 'bag of tricks' that I go to when testing headlines. The HSS headline is a longer headline, it's generally used in a direct response-based sales letter or a longer headline that goes above a video sales letter. Though as I mentioned before, it is sometimes used elsewhere like in email copy, ads, affiliate landing pages, ecommerce, etc too, with some adjustments. The HSS method stands for: - A Hook based promise. - A Specific promise, and - A Social promise... These are 3 promises that we make in our headline. As an example, let's think about promoting a weight loss product… 1. The first promise, your HOOK, is that thing that makes people curious… Yes, they are interested in the promise itself, but something about it sounds very interesting… …It kind of almost shocks them into reading more. And example of a hook-based promise would be: "How to Lose Weight While Eating Donuts." Those last 3 words there, "while eating donuts.", that's the hook. Of course in your sales copy, you will have to follow through on that hook, in a way that still keeps them excited about your product. So in this case, perhaps it's a diet that involves intermittent fasting and a cheat day or two where you can eat Donuts. The role of that line in this 3 part headline, is simply to get people to be curious enough to read the next line. Here's another example of a hook-based promise…: "Boost Your Metabolism With This One Vital Mineral." Or... "The Number One Mineral For Boosting Your Metabolism." So this HOOK-Based promise is the first line of a 3 sentence headline. Sometimes it's written in a smaller font as a subhead. Other times it's just as big as the rest of the headline. 2. Now you've got your more SPECIFIC promise. This is where you give a specific promise that they can actually picture themselves getting. It's not generic and open-ended, there is a specific result attached. Here's an example… "Lose two inches from your belly in just two weeks." 3. Now, we have your SOCIAL promise. A social promise is some sort of promise where they can see how this product will make them look better or feel better in a social sense… It could be as simple as "Your friends won't believe it." Or "Your friends and family will think that you've had gastric band surgery." Here's another example if I was selling a dog training course: "Never feel embarrassed by your dogs barking, digging, jumping, or chewing ever again." So that's it, the HSS Headline method. I hope you enjoyed today's update. This is not the only way to write a headline. In the future, I'll be revealing many different ways that you can test and run great headlines to your offers. But this is one method that is well worth testing that can boost your conversion rates by 20% or more because it gets people to read the rest of your copy. If they don't read your copy because they're not drawn in by the headline, then all of that copy can go to waste. All right that's it from me now. Talk soon! Kind regards, |
