Keyword research

Hi Agung,

When it comes to content marketing, and also with pay per click advertising, it's important to know what people are actually searching for (from Google, YouTube, etc).

For instance, a new video for my Diabetes Smarts channel that I have a writer researching for is called "Can Diabetics Eat Pizza?"

And the reason I chose that as a topic for a video was:

1. It will probably have good curiosity appeal, and hence get clicks if it shows up as a suggested video
2. 2,400 people per month are actively searching for that phrase (and it's not that competitive, so I should rank high for it when the video is published)

How do I know 2,400 people are searching for it?

One of the keyword research tools that I use is a simple browser add on for Chrome called "Keywords Everywhere"

It's free to install, though to get the full use of it, you need to buy credits.

I buy about $50 worth of credits at a time, which seems to last me many months. Though most people I know just buy $10 worth of credits and tell me that lasts them a long time too.

What this tool does is it shows you how many people are searching for a particular phrase, when you are type it into the search bar…

AND it gives you search total for other suggested phrases.

Just visit www.keywordseverywhere.com to install this helpful plugin on Chrome or Firefox.

One tip for using it…

Visit Google and type in parts of a sentence…

e.g. stop dog a

And you'll see suggestions like these

Stop dog aggression
Stop dog attack
Stop dog abuse
Stop dog allergies
Stop dog anxiety
… and so on

If you search for Stop dog b

You'll see suggestions like:

Stop dog barking
Stop dog barking at visitors
Stop dog barking at night
Stop dog barking device
Stop dog biting
Stop dog barking at other dogs
… and so on

Plus, if you have keywords everywhere installed, you'll also see the number of people who search for each phrase per month.

For instance stop dog biting gets 2900 searches per month, whereas stop dog barking at night gets 720.

This can help you in research for an article or youtube video, so you know what to cover on a topic, based on user interest.

And it can help you in coming up with a title for the next piece of content AND it can help with uncovering great Pay Per Click keywords for paid YouTube ads and/or Google or Yahoo ads.

I hope you find this suggestion helpful.

Have a fantastic rest of the weekend ahead.

Kind regards,

Mark Ling
