5 different ‘topic types’ for YouTube marketing

Hi Agung,

One method of driving traffic that has been working particularly well for me lately is YouTube.

In particular, driving organic traffic from niche channels.

What I love about YouTube, as opposed to articles on Google, is that you don't need to rely on people 'searching' for your video.

On google, if you create a video about: The top 5 vegetables for diabetics (as an example)

You'd find that not that many people search for that exact topic.

But on YouTube, the algorithm realises that diabetics may be interested in that topic.

So it'll show that video as a 'suggested video'

And if it is of interest, people will click on it, and assuming it gets good average view time, and attracts likes and comments…

…Then YouTube will show it to a lot more people.

So, now that we've established that it's not about whether or not people are necessarily searching specifically for the topic…

…Here are 5 different topic types for YouTube marketing:

#1 List Videos

These are videos that work through items in a list, and tell the viewer a bit about each item before moving to the next one.

For example:

The top 15 ways to __________

5 best and worst _________ for ____________

6 steps to _______________

Top 10 signs that __________________

These are great for videos as they naturally pull viewers through, as they want to discover all the items in the list.

#2 "versus" videos

This is where you pair off two different items against each other.

For example:

________ vs _________ which is better for ____________.

Two examples of this topic template would be:

Broccoli vs Cauliflower. Which is better for diabetics?

Or

Clicker vs Voice Commands. Which is better for dog training?

#3 Can [something] help [something]

This is where you write about a possible solution to a problem.

Either it'll be all about how it does work. Or it'll be a common solution that really doesn't work (myth busted).

For example:

Can eggs help with balancing blood sugar?

Or

Can punishing dogs help stop behaviour problems? (Or will they get WORSE?)

#4 When [Problem] Do (This)

Here you list a problem, and a 'clickbait' solution that goes into more detail in your video.

For example:

When your blood sugar gets high… Do THIS.

When a man pulls away… Avoid THIS Mistake

When your dog chews your shoes… Try This Clicker Method

#5 Stop [problem] With/without [solution]

Here's an example of this in template form:

Stop/Get Rid Of/Prevent _______ (Problem) With/Without ________ (Solution)

Here's a few examples of topics using this template:

Stop dogs digging - with this 3 step method

Get rid of hair fungus - With this apple cider vinegar remedy

Get him to call you back - Without begging or game playing

So that's it for today's newsletter update.

I hope this gives you lots of ideas if you're keen on starting and running a profitable YouTube channel.

They can also form great topics for articles for blogs and social media posts.
