Dear Agung,
Job searching has taken on a new dimension since the changes in the economy. With more job seekers than open jobs, most employers don't have a problem finding candidates. The most common employers have is finding GOOD candidates. (Of course, this is one of the reasons why employers use FlexJobs, because we have good candidates!)
How can you become a good candidate? It's honestly not as hard as many people think. I don't mean to say that it's easy, but by following some key job search tactics, you can definitely increase your chances of getting to the interview phase. For example:
  • Be a match for the job! If you are not a match, or at least a very near match, it really doesn't make sense to apply in almost all cases.
  • Follow the applications instructions to the letter. Think about it -- if you don't follow instructions now, why will they think you can later?
  • Don't wait, apply now! The sooner you get your application in, the better.
  • Have a professional presence on Google. Recruiters use Google, and so should you, so do a quick search for your name and location to see what comes up. It can help to create and maintain social media profiles that highlight your strengths.
Read on for more great job search information! And always, thank you so much for considering us a trusted resource in your job search for telecommuting, freelance, part-time, and other flexible jobs.
