Dear Agung,
I know I've said it before, but I'll say it again... 2014 sure is looking good for telecommuting and flexible job options! This can already be seen in articles about "The 10 Big Companies with the Most Telecommuting Options", and the big focus on flexibility and freelance work in The Street's article on "What America's Workforce Will Look Like in 2014", among many others.
So whether you're just starting your job search, or continuing one, here are my three key tips:
  1. Keep hopes up. As stated in The Street article, "There is no doubt that the labor market is getting better; and that holds true across almost all segments -- full time, part time, etc."
  2. Keep your focus. It's easy to get distracted or to procrastinate in your job search, but don't! Set daily goals for yourself, track them, and continue pointing yourself in the right direction.
  3. Keep the quality. Embrace the fact that it's not the number of applications you put out there, it's the quality and fit of each one. Your job search will be more effective if you apply to fewer jobs but ones you are truly qualified and interested in, and do so with a really personalized, strong cover letter and resume.
That being said, now let's get going! Read on for great tips on how to start your 2014 job search off strong, and if you choose to join FlexJobs to get a leg up in your 2014 job search, remember to use the "NEWSLETTER" promo code for 30% off! Thank you for considering FlexJobs a trusted resource in your search for a telecommute, freelance, part-time, or flexible schedule job. Many cheers to an amazing year ahead!

Call them resolutions if you're so inclined, but if you've been unemployed or unhappily employed in 2013, you may want to try something different. After all, it's pointless to do things the way you've always done them and expect a different outcome. Here are five New Year's resolutions for job seekers to consider implementing this month in order to have no career regrets for the year ahead!

How to Start Working from Home
Working from home isn't exactly like working in an office, but if you prepare yourself ahead of time and learn how to start working from home, you'll set yourself up for success.

I recently spoke with the authors of The Home Office That Works -- A Guide for Entrepreneurs and Telecommuters, a new book that discusses the many decisions that can make or break a successful home office. Dr. Joseph Webb and Richard Romano draw on their combined 35+ years of experience effectively working in their own home offices and offer tips and strategies for maximizing at-home productivity. Whether you're looking for a work-from-home job or are already telecommuting, here's their advice on setting up a home office, being a successful telecommuter, home office tax tips, and how to stay connected when you work from home.
